NDIS Guide

Navigating the NDIS With Confidence

Clear, simple answers to help you understand and manage your plan.

What Is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government initiative that provides funding to eligible people with permanent and significant disability. The NDIS gives participants choice and control over the supports they receive, allowing you to select providers like Nepean Better Care who best meet your needs and goals.

How the NDIS Works

1

Check Your Eligibility

To access the NDIS, you must be under 65, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and have a permanent disability that significantly affects your daily life.

2

Apply & Get Assessed

Submit an Access Request to the NDIS. A planner will work with you to understand your needs and develop your first NDIS plan.

3

Receive Your Plan

Your NDIS plan outlines your goals and the funding allocated across support categories to help you achieve them.

4

Choose Your Providers

With your plan in place, you choose the registered providers who will deliver your supports — that's where Nepean Better Care comes in.

Plan Management Options

Self-Managed

You manage your own NDIS funding and pay providers directly. Offers maximum flexibility and choice.

Plan-Managed

A registered plan manager handles the financial administration of your plan on your behalf. You still choose your providers.

NDIA-Managed

The NDIS pays your providers directly. You must use registered providers like Nepean Better Care.
